You can choose to bring someone with you to your visit at the clinic. You might want to bring a friend, for example.

What is a youth clinic?

Youth clinics are for people aged between about 12 and 25 years of age. The age range may be different for different clinics. Check with the clinic you want to visit to find out what applies there.

Here are some examples of what you can get help with at a youth clinic:

  • Get answers to questions about your body.
  • Get answers to questions about sex or relationships.
  • Get protection against pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
  • Get tested for sexually transmitted infections.
  • Do a pregnancy test.

You can also go to a youth clinic if you need someone to talk to. For example, you can talk about how you are feeling.  You may want to talk about how things are going for you at home or at school.

Most youth clinics offer free condoms.

What should I do if I want to visit a youth clinic?

You can contact a youth clinic by calling on the phone or by booking an appointment online.

Most youth clinics also have specific times when you can come without booking an appointment. This is called "drop-in".

Many youth clinics also offer online visits. For example, you may be able to visit by booking a video call or online chat with someone at the clinic.

You can find all the youth clinics in Sweden via the link below. You can see how to get help and when they are open.

Who should I see at the youth clinic?

All youth clinics have at least one midwife and one counsellor. Many youth clinics also have staff from other professions. There may be a doctor and a psychologist, for example.

You don't need to know who you want to see when you contact a youth clinic. The staff there will help you with that.

Will anyone find out that I have been to a youth clinic?

Everyone who works in healthcare is bound by patient confidentiality. This means that no one working at the clinic is allowed to tell anyone you that you have been there. They are also not allowed to tell anyone what you have said.

Does it cost anything to go to a youth clinic?

If you are under 18 years of age, you do not need to pay anything to go to a youth clinic. If you are 18 years of age or over, it may cost the same as a regular healthcare visit. But at most clinics, visits are free even if you are over 18 years of age. Ask your clinic what applies there.
